About the role
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development, the Job Developer/Recruiter is responsible for identifying talent, acting as a bridge between job seekers and our programs, providing resources and training to enhance job seekers' employability skills, and maintaining a pool of candidates that can fulfill employer requests for skilled trades candidates.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Support team in employer outreach and follow-up to identify new job opportunities.

Outreach to new or existing participants of our Workforce Development Program.

Provide career coaching support to participants by way of resume updating, networking strategies, interviewing guidance, and how best to be a stand-out candidate.
-
Generate job leads and market participating clients to employers and advocate on the clients’ behalf.
-
Assist in sourcing candidates through various channels based on program. requirements, pre-screening candidates for Workforce Development and Bootcamp programs.
-
Support the recruitment process by conducting interviews, assessing candidates’ skills and qualifications, and matching them with suitable job opportunities.
-
Support participants with the technology platform for skills assessment, training and development.
-
Collaborates with the Marketing team for upcoming workshops.
-
Monitors applications received by email, reviewing demographics and qualifications, highlighting candidates and sending communications to attend workshops.
-
Communicate with applicants by phone to confirm event attendance, follow up on their experience and distribute surveys.
-
Coordinate live webinars and collaborate with marketing team for promotion.
-
Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records/files while managing reporting expectations to submit accurate and timely reports to track activities when required.

Contribute to achieving the program’s goals and KPI’s, expand referral networks, and enhance employer engagement.

Participate in other activities that directly support positive client outcomes, including, but not limited to, job fairs, webinars, and community events.

Attend, participate and collaborate in internal and external meetings both in-person and virtually when required.
-
Present information clearly and concisely, even in high-pressure situations.
-
Maintain success stories that impact KPI’s of program for Activity Reports for MOL.

Navigate formal and informal communication channels with finesse.
-
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-
Post-secondary education in Business, Human Resources or equivalent required.
-
Additional formal education in job development, career coaching and pre-employment skills development is strongly preferred.
-
2-3 years of experience in managing business relationships, human resources, career outreach, recruitment, employer liaison, or similar role required.
-
Experience achieving targets in an outcome-based, funded program, preferred.
-
Experience in a position where cold calling was necessary, strongly preferred.
-
Knowledge of the Skilled Trades Industry and the Ontario Apprenticeship pathway, nice to have.
-
Experience working with adult education, employment and training sectors, nice to have.
-
Knowledge of potential employment trends/developments in the Construction, Industrial, Motive-Power considered an asset but not mandatory.
-
Familiarity with the workings of a not-for-profit organization, an asset but not mandatory.

Highly detail-oriented with demonstrated critical thinking skills.

Exceptional verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills, able to flex communication style to their audience.

Excellent active listening skills and ability to provide empathic support while helping participants with career coaching.

Competent in making routine decisions and working with minimal guidance.

Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

General knowledge of and ability to operate computers, associated software applications, and hardware.

Good relationship development and management skills to develop and maintain working relationships with local employers, associations, agencies etc.

Able to work a flexible schedule while managing own workload and commitments.

Generate job leads and market participating clients to employers and advocate on the clients’ behalf; be comfortable with cold calling.

Possess a continuous improvement mindset, comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

Competent in making routine decisions and working with minimal guidance.

Able to work a flexible schedule and have the ability to commute to event or meeting locations.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant Ontario legislation and regulations.
-
Valid G Driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and valid insurance.
-
Ability and flexibility to travel to events across Ontario, including those requiring overnight stays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
-
Five-day work week (Monday to Friday), with flexible start and end times and occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight stays may be required for events and workshops.
-
Majority of the work week is worked remotely with expected travel to the Etobicoke head office, and travel across Ontario for events, meetings and/or site visits. Must be a commutable distance from the office.

Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance.
-
Ability to move, lift and carry up to 20 pounds independently.
