Journeyman Parts Person [Grande Prairie]
About the role
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide exemplary customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Receive and interpret parts inquiries and parts verification for equipment or package items.
- Inform customers of unit prices, shipping date, anticipated delays, and any pertinent information.
- Assist inventory control when orders deplete stock or adjustments to inventory are required.
- Initiate purchase requisitions for out-of-stock material.
- Maintain quality relations with customers during complaint processes.
- Incorporate suggestive selling techniques for additional sales.
- Review and understand the terms and conditions on customer purchase orders.
- Assist with quoting and prepare and enter parts quotes.
- Understand warranty terms consistent with product line.
- Assist with Shipping and Receiving as needed & load or offload freight trucks as required.
- Gives instructions and/or orders to apprentices to establish suitable goals, action plans, and timelines for project completion.
- Coaches, mentors, and assists with evaluation of the apprentices through the employee performance management process to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.
Prerequisites
Education
- Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
- Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
Experience
- 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
- This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
- Oilfield and related experience is preferred.
Other
- Class 5 driver’s license
- As a condition of employment, employees are required upon hire to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict-of-Interest Agreement, and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.

- This position has supervisory responsibility to apprentice parts persons
- Supervisory readily available from Parts Manager
- Position has latitude to apply judgment in immediate work environment with guidance from established guidelines and standards.
- Issues of a more complex nature or beyond the scope of the position are referred to the immediate supervisor.

- May be required to work in all types of weather
Physical Requirements
- Must be in good physical condition with the physical strength and stamina required to occasionally lift heavy materials more than 20 kilograms and stand for long periods
- Bending and working at heights
- There is some risk of injury when working with power tools and heavy equipment
- Employees must adhere to the dress code for safety sensitive areas. Company-standard PPE for shops and yards includes CSA approved steel-toed boots and full-length pants
