Job Description

CentreCanada is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Drama Coach for its 2025 Summer School program. The successful candidate will develop and facilitate drama-based workshops for youth, using theatre as a tool for self-expression, confidence-building, and cultural connection. This role offers an opportunity to create inclusive, engaging spaces for storytelling and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead daily drama sessions including improvisation, monologues, scriptwriting, and group acting exercises
  • Encourage participation and creativity among youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Guide students in preparing short plays, skits, or spoken word pieces for a final performance or showcase
  • Integrate themes of identity, community, and culture into theatre activities
  • Provide individualized feedback and coaching to help students improve stage presence and public speaking
  • Foster teamwork and mutual respect through collaborative exercises
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive workshop environment
  • Other duties as assigned, such as coordinating performance logistics or supporting arts-related events

CentreCanada Newcomer Services Society is a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the settlement, education, and integration of newcomer families across the Lower Mainland. Through inclusive programming, mentorship, and educational services, we work to empower youth, strengthen families, and build bridges between communities. Our summer school program provides newcomer youth with enriching, supportive, and skill-building experiences that prepare them for success both inside and outside the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in theatre, acting, drama education, or performing arts facilitation
  • Enthusiasm for youth development through creative arts
  • Familiarity with multicultural or multilingual student groups
  • Turkish language skills strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with CentreCanada’s programming or similar community arts initiatives

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.85 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
