The Director of Experiential Event Sales is responsible for driving revenue growth through the strategic sale of sponsorships, exhibition space, and attendance packages for financial events. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, managing key client relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful event execution. This position requires a strong understanding of the financial industry, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in sales. This role will also include the responsibility of coordinating with other business lines beyond financial experiential events to create cross selling opportunities and synergy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy and Execution:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets for financial events.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including potential sponsors and exhibitors.
    • Manage a personal sales territory and actively cultivate a pipeline of opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
    • Understand client needs and tailor event solutions to meet their objectives.
    • Negotiate contracts and close sales deals.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:

    • Work closely with the Events team to ensure seamless event logistics and operations.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling marketing materials and promotional campaigns.
    • Partner with the product team to ensure product delivery and enhancements related to events.
    • Work alongside the sales team to identify, approach, and secure sponsorships for events and nurture existing partnerships.
    • Work with other business and product lines within the TMX VettaFi organization to identity opportunities for cross selling and greater collaboration with clients.
  • Reporting and Analysis:

    • Provide weekly sales progress reports to management, including pipeline health, target comparisons, and activity metrics.
    • Track and analyze sales performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
    • Forecast financial requirements for upcoming events and adjust allocations based on business priorities.
  • Industry Knowledge:

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the financial industry, market trends, and competitive landscape.
    • Act as a thought partner on sales best practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years in client-facing roles within Asset Management and/or Financial Media sales.
  • Demonstrated success in sales and a strategic approach to achieving sales goals.
  • Moderate to extensive knowledge of the financial services industry.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.
  • Proficiency in managing sales processes and operations; expert use of Salesforce and other sales progress reporting tools.
