Bus Driver – Seniors Retirement Communities

Homeland Housing offers a variety of housing and care options, including independent seniors’ apartments, supportive living, affordable housing for seniors, community affordable housing, and designated supportive living 3 and 4. We serve nine Alberta communities – Westlock, Legal, St. Albert, Morinville, Clyde, Jarvie, Bon Accord, Redwater, and Gibbons.
Homeland Housing is looking for a Bus Driver to join our team! Using our 16-seat bus, the Bus Driver provides safe, reliable transportation for residents, staff, and volunteers attending various activities and recreational events in the community. The hours for this position are flexible, generally Monday to Friday between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting residents to various scheduled activities and recreational events as planned by the Site Activity Coordinator.
- Assisting residents with their mobility equipment (walkers and wheelchairs) while entering and exiting the bus.
- Ensuring mobility equipment is safely stowed on the bus.
- Assisting the Activity Coordinator and volunteers with portering or walking with residents at event venues and activities.
- Completing pre and post transportation checklists.
- Tidying the bus after each trip.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Class 4 driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Valid First Aid with Level 'B' or 'C' CPR, or willingness to obtain certification within three months of employment. The cost for training and certification is provided by Homeland Housing.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion, empathy, and patience
- Strong written and verbal English skills.
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
Wage Rate
$26.97 to $28.08 per hour. Vacation and statutory holiday pay is provided.
