The School of Health and Community Services at Medicine Hat College is seeking applications for the position of part-time instructor for the new Pharmacy Technician program. This part-time, on-campus role is set to begin on August 15, 2025.
A little about the role:
We are looking for passionate and knowledgeable pharmacy technicians who are excited to share their knowledge, expertise and experience as a part-time Instructor in our new Pharmacy Technician program. The part-time instructors could teach one or more of the following:
- PHRM 111 – Community Prescription Processing (Fall 2025)
- PHRM 113 – Community Pharmacy Practice (Winter 2026)
- PHRM 123 – Community Pharmacy Lab (Winter 2026)
This position presents an exciting opportunity to help build a high-demand program tailored to the needs of our region. MHC has obtained the curriculum for these courses from NorQuest’s nationally-accredited program, and MHC has updated them to the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Program’s 2025 standards. The successful candidate will implement the curriculum and mentor and guide students as they embark on a rewarding career in the fast-paced and respected field of pharmacy.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in both hospital and community pharmacy settings, a strong passion for teaching, and the ability to create a dynamic and hands-on learning environment that ensures students are well-prepared for success in the field.

As a successful applicant you'll have:
- Active and current licensure with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a registered pharmacy technician.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, ensuring the maintenance of skills and competencies in practice settings, in compliance with the accreditation standards established by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP).
- A Pharmacy Technician Diploma is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience in community pharmacy settings.
- Experience in teaching within a post-secondary educational environment is preferred.
- Consideration will be given to equivalent combinations of post-secondary education and relevant professional experience.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
