Position Overview
Kiewit is seeking a Civil Project Engineer for our Darlington nuclear project. The role involves assisting in the development and maintenance of comprehensive work packages, coordinating project deliverables, and ensuring construction activities adhere to standards. The successful candidate will contribute to nuclear projects, leveraging Kiewit's extensive expertise in the nuclear-related market.

Location
The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
- Prepare requisitions that meet design specifications and applicable codes and standards, drawings, systems classification records, bill of materials, etc.
- Prepare Technical Specifications or Proposal RFQ’s to support proposal or project execution
- Evaluate vendors’ quotations and recommend Vendor selection based on performance specifications, pricing and guarantees
- Identify requirements for purchasing items and services
- Selection and assignment of Quality Assurance program for procured items
- Review Customer specifications and design document
- Interfacing with the design service and customer on design related matters
- Support the constructability review team as a part of the design evolution, and interface with the design engineering team to address finding and resolve issues.
- Receive, review, accept, assemble and maintain documentation for use in preparing work packages for design compliance
- Communicate the technical and quality requirements to the prepares of construction drawings, procedures, etc.
- Support proposal development for engineering services and engineered equipment
- Provides guidance, mentorship and training to Project Coordinators to support development
- Working collaboratively with the PC, Trades Supervision & Quality Specialist (QS) to complete the CITP
- Coordinates and support preparation of the commissioning/pre-operational test plan in accordance with the test/plant specification.
- Conducts final walkdown and approves walk-down punch lists as required for construction close-out
- Collaborate with external engineers and internal team to create detailed technical drawings and schematics
- Provide support on technical solutions to Non-conformance reports (NCRs) and/or site requirements for permanent works
- Establish interface control, including the assignment of responsibility and the preparation of procedures among participating design organizations for review, approval, release, distribution and revision of documents involving design interfaces
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10+ years working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a construction-related field or the equivalent experience and education in project or field engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng). designation in Ontario preferred
- Experience working with concrete material codes and standards
- Knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawing & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the project.
- Proficient in software related to the construction industry (e.g. Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, SAP etc.)
- Knowledge of Nuclear Codes and Standards (CSA, ASME, ASTM, AWS, etc.) and nuclear class equipment procurement
- Knowledge of engineering and construction change management processes
- Proven organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.
- Flexibility to work in both field and office.
