VERBIO Diesel Canada Corporation (VDC) invests in a biodiesel and glycerin production facility in Welland, Ontario. VDC’s goal is to become one of the leading biodiesel producers in North America with an annual capacity of approx. 150,000 tons of biodiesel and 18,000 tons of crude glycerin. VDC strives for technological leadership in the field of production of renewable fuels.

Position Purpose

The Process Operator works as part of a team in a continuous process manufacturing environment. The Process Operator will adhere to all safety and environmental parameters that apply in a chemical manufacturing operation. The Process Operator works primarily in the process building and takes directions from the Shift Leader and reports to the Production Manager. The Process Operator is jointly responsible for ensuring production targets are being maintained while meeting all quality parameters for the finished product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs small repairs on equipment; communicates directly with the Shift Leader to coordinate complicated repairs and maintenance requirements; assists maintenance employees as needed in performing maintenance and repairs.
  • Takes routine field readings and diagnoses faults affecting facility conditions.
  • Operates the hoist within the facility.
  • Carries out the cleaning duties of the facility.
  • Understand the process flow and equipment.
  • Safe handling of chemicals, wearing appropriate PPE
  • Monitoring and management of wastewater systems, sanitary and storm water systems.
  • Operation of pumps, valve orientation, connect/disconnect hoses to transfer products, chemicals or wastewater.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Adheres to Kosher practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous telehandler, tow motor, or other lift experience is an asset.
  • The ability to work from written and oral instructions.
  • Superior work ethic and dependability.
  • Able to work rotating 12-hour shift schedules.
  • Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, working at heights and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, rain gear, steel toe boots), and qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • A working knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office and the Internet.
  • Experience in operating Human Machine Interface (HMI) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and ability.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to work independently.
