Who are we looking for? Our Ontario Environmental business is looking for an Environmental Manager who shall have defined authority (under an existing Project Agreement) to ensure the day-to-day implementation of Works associated with the project-specific Environmental Management System, the Environmental Approvals, and the environmental plans and reports.
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Management: Establishing and maintaining working relationships with relevant Governmental Authorities and Stakeholders, including direct client and vendors.
- Transformational Change Management: Overseeing the environmental monitoring in accordance with any and all Environmental Approvals obtained for the Project. Preparation and submission of Environmental Clearance(s) in accordance with the Class EA to the Contracting Authority Representative
- Leadership and Direction: Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
- Project Team Management: Lead large project and program teams (or multiple small- to medium-sized teams); define the project/program vision, communicate the necessary outcomes, and provide guidance to achieve these outcomes; manage resources across projects/programs; negotiate the flow of additional team members on and off the team, as needed; and build the capability of the team through training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Project Assurance: ensuring environmental issues are addressed and requirements are met in accordance with any and all Environmental Law, Environmental Approvals and this Project Agreement
- Project Governance: managing all aspects of federal and provincial environmental assessment processes in accordance with the Class EA and the ERD, including organizing, conducting and coordinating a consultation program related to Class EA requirements
- Public Consultation Management: supporting and maintaining working relationships with relevant Indigenous Nations through the Owner Representative; and, preparing and submitting to the Owner Representative all materials associated with consultation plans.
- Project Risk and Issue Management: Ensure that risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints are managed appropriately at project level. Where risks or issues threaten delivery of the project, develop and agree on recovery plans.
Education
- Degree from a recognized university with specialization in environmental planning, biology, natural sciences, planning or another related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working on the environmental planning and/or delivery component of complex transportation projects, with demonstrated experience working on MTO Class Environmental Assessment projects.
