Dairy Lane Systems started in 1990 as a Surge milking equipment dealer. Since that time, we have expanded our scope to include automated milking robots, stabling, manure management, plumbing and ventilation services. Most recently, we acquired 2 milking equipment dealerships in Western Canada. In addition to the milking equipment sales, service and installation business, we are also involved in the design, build and operation of renewable energy biogas plants (DLS Biogas), the construction of agricultural structures (DLS Structures) and the manufacturing of dairy farm equipment (DLS Manufacturing).

The successful candidate will work as part of an innovative and creative team in a new shop, with the latest in technology and equipment, to create and repair milking parlours, manure management equipment and barn stabling according to specifications (laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding metals), ensuring high-quality standards and safety protocols are met.

This is a full-time position Monday – Friday working 7:00 am – 4:00 pm. We offer a total compensation package that includes competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and the opportunity for growth and advancement, come grow with us! Compensation commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements

Interpret and work from schematics, technical drawings, blueprints to fabricate parts and assemblies

Shear, bend, grind and cut materials to create the desired weldment

Inspect and test welds and equipment

Fabricate and weld metal components using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding

Operate power tools and machinery including plasma cutters, grinders, and drills

Rigging and crane operation for material handling

Occasional on-site work

Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship and image with our customers

Provide quality workmanship consistent with company and industry standards

Follow Health and Safety requirements in all regards ensuring prevention of illness/injury

Skills and Qualifications

Proven experience as a Fabricator/Welder

Proficient in welding techniques such as MIG (1-2 years), TIG (2-3 years) and stick

Mechanical knowledge for fabrication processes

Analytically minded with an eye for detail

Familiarity with power tools, equipment and machinery used in metal fabrication (mild and stainless steel)

Basic math skills for measurements and calculations

Strong work ethic and desire to be part of a high-performing team

Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications

Highly organized to plan your day and prioritize your workload meeting deadlines and ensuring customer satisfaction

Ability to work independently or as part of a team and take ownership of assigned work

Strong communication skills to clearly communicate with team as necessary

CWB and/or Red Seal certification would be an asset

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Must be legally entitled to live and work in Canada

Valid G driver’s license with a clean abstract
