Location: 8470 Keele St, Concord ON

Hours: 8 am to 4:30 pm

Combined Metal Industries (CMI for short!) sources and processes recycled ferrous and non-ferrous metals across North America and ensure they do not end up in a landfill or go to waste. Our recycling stream ensures that all the ferrous and non-ferrous metals that enter our yards will create something new again!

We are looking for a driven and committed candidate who exhibits enthusiasm for performing accounting activities and can elevate the role to the next level by thinking out of the box and applying analytical and strategic thinking. This position will be integral to a passionate and dynamic team that values growth, innovation, and collaboration.

Sound good so far? Here’s what you’ll be responsible for in this role…

  • Assist the Supervisor in month end preparation and review of general ledger account reconciliations and ensure they are properly supported.
  • Responsible for the Fixed assets/Capex transactions, reconciliation, Journal entries. Ensure all necessary steps are followed before the month-end.
  • Update and reconcile loan payable and receivable schedules.
  • Participate in the Intercompany reconciliation.
  • Support the Controller in establishing accounting processes and controls documentation.
  • Conduct month end duties and work on the ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Support a strong internal control environment to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with accounting standards and legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures.
  • Support HST reviews filings and tax installments are completed as per deadlines.
  • Prepare Audit Schedules for the year end and support the audit process. Assist the Supervisor in the review of external audit reports and tax returns.
  • Assist with payable and receivable tasks.
  • Provide year end support.
  • Additional tasks as requested.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience required performing the job:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting and working towards CPA designation.
  • 3 – 5 years of previous experience in general accounting, preferably in manufacturing company.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Customer service oriented, possess tact and judgment in dealing with complex and demanding customers.
  • Respond to tight deadlines during regular and peak periods and to last-minute demands and requirements.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, detail-oriented, and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Possess analysis and problem-solving skills.
