Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Seafood Processor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in seafood/meat cutting and a strong understanding of food safety protocols. This role involves working with various seafood products, ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the processing stages. The Seafood Processor will play a key role in maintaining high standards of hygiene and product integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Seafood Preparation & Handling:
- Safely and efficiently clean, gut, scale, cut, fillet, portion, and package various types of fresh and frozen seafood products according to company standards and customer specifications.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as knives, scales, grinders, and packaging machines proficiently and safely.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene protocols (HACCP, GMPs) at all times.
- Ensure all prepared seafood products meet high standards for quality, freshness, and presentation.
- Inventory & Stock Management:
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and properly storing incoming seafood deliveries (fresh, frozen, live).
- Rotate stock diligently using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods.
- Monitor inventory levels of prepared products and raw materials; notify management of low stock or quality concerns.
- Assist with regular inventory counts as required.
- Sanitation & Cleanliness:
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all work surfaces, equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and storage areas (including coolers and freezers) according to schedule and procedures.
- Dispose of waste and by-products properly and promptly.
- Maintain impeccable personal hygiene (clean uniform, hair restraint, gloves, frequent handwashing).
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Follow all company recipes, portioning guidelines, and preparation standards consistently.
- Comply strictly with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor product temperatures regularly and maintain accurate logs.
- Teamwork & Communication:
- Work effectively and cooperatively with other back kitchen staff, counter staff, and management.
- Communicate clearly with the front counter regarding product availability, preparation times, and special orders.
- Assist other departments as needed and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in seafood processing, commercial kitchen work, or meat cutting strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with knives and relevant food processing equipment.
- Strong understanding of food safety principles (HACCP, sanitation, cross-contamination prevention) is essential.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, cold, wet environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to working hours as required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 32 per week
