As a Field Training Designer, you will be responsible for developing the training, materials, and tools to support Water Services Field Operations to transition from OWAM to IBM's Maximo. You will be working to help build operational consistency, with a goal of ensuring employees are trained to complete work efficiently using Maximo and understand the business process changes that will come with the new system. You will be working with the WS Digital Transformation team who is leading the implementation of Maximo, and you will be responsible to apply instructional design methods, adult learning principles, competency-based skill development approaches, and creativity to develop effective training materials and strategies for the different users of the system. Primary duties include:
- Work with WS Digital Transformation team to leverage information provided by the vendor to build training that supports current employees in moving from current processes to the new digital processes enabled by Maximo.
- Define the training needs due to the changes in work processes to develop the training strategy and training plans for the different operational groups.
- Develop training that addresses the business context and work processes to ensure the support and sustainment of new operational practices.
- Develop training materials, learner resources, facilitator guides, job aids, reference materials, and other tools to support training and can sustain future on-the-job training approach.
- Consider audience, content, change management approaches, and sustainment methodology.
- Consult with members of the Water Services Digital Transformation team, Operational Performance Team, and field employees in developing, piloting, and delivery of training.
- Adjust training to ensure it meets objectives, new practices and expectations are documented appropriately, and evaluation is consistent and ongoing.
Qualifications
- A degree in Adult Education, Education, or a related field, and at least 3 years of experience in training development, or instructional design in an operational environment, adult learning theory and program evaluation.
- Previous experience in developing training for users of technology and software would be an asset.
- A strong client service orientation and the ability to work effectively with a diverse client group is essential, with well-developed critical thinking and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time is essential.
- Success in this position requires the ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems.
Note: A portfolio and/or sample of training design work will be requested.
