Job Description:

What will you work on?

Manage quality, reliability, and safety compliance activities during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure that Spin Master products meet and/or exceed worldwide safety, chemical, and performance requirements, deliver optimal product reliability, and fulfill customer expectations for the product. This position will also monitor product performance in the field and pose improvements as required and use this information to anticipate and prevent issues on future products.

How will you create impact?

  • Perform as QA core team member on project teams; as part of the new product introduction (NPI) team, attend team meetings and lead all quality, safety and reliability activities and requirements to ensure product consistently meets all regulatory and customer requirements
  • Coordinate internal and external testing as required and planned for the development stage.
  • At concept stages of development, conduct FMEA (Failure mode and effects analysis) and other reviews to drive appropriate qualification requirements for downstream stages of testing.
  • Act as liaison during customer trials to facilitate the process.
  • Key interface with global team members on program for continuity and coordination of task completion.
  • Analyze customer return and complaints, and issue and monitor corrective action requests to address root cause.
  • Ensure that packaging labelling specifications for new toys are met and interact with the packaging department as required.
  • Ensure all requirements are met prior to releasing production or customer shipments.
  • Travel as needed to suppliers and/or customers (less than 10%)
  • Liaise with worldwide regulatory bodies (CPSC, Health Canada, etc.) in maintaining compliance in accordance with industry requirements; coordinate required activities promptly and effectively.
  • Work closely with other functional groups such as Design, Marketing, Customer Care, Sales, Planning and other divisions in Asia and Europe.
  • Other tasks as assigned related to the domain knowledge of QA and the toy and consumer goods industries.
  • Stay abreast of changing global, region-specific regulations, standards, and retailer requirements to anticipate potential impacts to processes or products
  • Maintain monthly performance metrics for key operational indicators, where needed
  • Maintain technical files for projects, in accordance with EU requirements
  • Perform training to other departments as required

What are your skills and experience?

  • Relevant experience in Quality Engineering for product safety and reliability
  • Toy industry specific experience is preferred
  • Compliance experience with agency standards for safety or other similar requirements
  • Six sigma, lean manufacturing, kaizen highly desirable
  • Desirable experience in areas of mechanical, electro-mechanical, PLC controllers, chemical or manufacturing engineering disciplines
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, one or more of the following specialties desirable: consumer electronics, chemistry, food safety, plastics, clothing/fabrics
