We’re seeking a Consultant, Actuarial to join the Risk Management team. Our team is responsible for developing and supporting the implementation of the risk management framework. We provide independent reviews and challenges to the business, identify, assess, respond, monitor, and report on risks that our company faces. We play an active role in building a competitive advantage by integrating our risk management framework into our business activities and strategic planning.
Your primary responsibility will be to lead the ORSA process, setting internal targets and conducting detailed stress tests. The team also prepares the quantitative risk metrics for the quarterly risk reporting. This role has high exposure to the ECM and Capital Management teams, who we work closely with to understand IFC’s risk profile and capital position.
You'll have high upwards visibility and the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment, where both communication and highly technical ability are utilized. This role also entails collaborating with our global organization to understand IFC’s wider risk profile.
What you’ll do here
- Use your expertise to lead large-scale actuarial projects, such as the ORSA.
- Demonstrate your leadership by contributing to business strategy discussions, seizing opportunities and sharing your passion and vision.
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders through coaching, technical advice, and participation in strategic discussions, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Opportunity to assist the team in implementing the Model Risk Management framework.
- Beyond an exclusive focus on insurance risk, you will have the opportunity to contribute more widely to managing other risks that impact capital requirements.
What you bring to the table
- University Degree.
- Certifications in Mathematics, Actuarial, Finance or Economics; ACAS or FCAS preferred.
- 5 years or more of actuarial experience (preferably in the P&C Insurance sector).
- Strong analytical skills, knowledge of mathematical techniques and solid planning and execution.
- Proactive approach, autonomy, planning, efficiency, and excellent team player.
- Experience in coaching of other team members on running and improving team processes, and special projects.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, receptive to feedback and to stay updated with emerging risks.
- Sound skills in oral and written communications and interpersonal relations with ability to interact with a variety of people at all levels of the organization.
- Able to relay complex concepts in ways that other stakeholders will easily understand.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, VBA; with knowledge of Python a plus.
- French speaking and writing - is an asset.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
