The role. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Accountant within our Business Services Department. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accountant is responsible for providing proactive financial and operational analyses for MPR’s manufacturing and Woodlands divisions to support effective business decisions to optimize investment returns.
Role And Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly forecasts, annual budgets and long-term plans
- Assist with month end accounting close and reporting requirements
- Assist various manufacturing and woodlands departments with planning, spend control and ensuring alignment with corporate policies and strategy.
- Prepare various journal entries for both day-to-day and month-end transactions.
- Preparing financial management information while adhering to MPR policies & practices and IFRS/GAAP principles
- Assist Corporate Accounting as required to resolve accounting issues
- Develop financial models to support decision making process
- Assist with working capital management and fixed asset management.
- Assist with the internal and external audits.
- Provide proactive solutions to management by analyzing and interpreting financial information
- Maintain and reconcile various general ledger accounts as appropriate.
- Assist with compiling financial and operational data for internal and external reporting (eg. Statistics Canada, industry surveys, government, benchmarking agencies, etc)
- Additional duties, as required.
Qualifications And Experience
- Must hold a University Degree in a relevant field(Business Administration, Finance, Accounting).
- CPA Program enrollment (current or intended).
- Experience in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
- Experience with Google Workspace or MS Office 365, with proven ability to use pivot tables and Power BI.
- Experience in ERP systems, such as Great Plains, SAP and Lucanet is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to convey analytical information.
- Ability to interact with leaders and team members while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
