If so, we want you on our Engineering Services Team in the 2-year term position of Senior Energy Specialist!
As the successful candidate in this 2-year term position, you will act as a champion for key energy initiatives to support the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) in moving towards a low-carbon energy future in alignment with corporate energy objectives.
You will:
- Carry out the tasks and deliverables of the work plan.
- Identify areas where conservation and energy management can assist in achieving the energy objectives outlined in organizational strategic plans:
- Identify corporate and community areas of conservation and energy management;
- Identify opportunities to integrate energy conservation measures that can be leveraged by FortisBC incentives;
- Prepare annual and quarterly progress reports to the Director of Engineering and FortisBC.
- Support the increase of corporate and community awareness regarding low carbon energy options, including those available through FortisBC's programs.
- Support BC Energy Step Code implementation.
- Support the Associate Director, Engineering Services in the development of policies, programs and strategies that promote a low carbon energy future.
- Complete all reporting requirements under the Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP) and report to the Board annually on Corporate GHG
- Emissions and organizational low-carbon activities/initiatives.
- Participate in key internal committees (i.e. Asset Management Committee).
- Build, enhance and retain strong working relationships with all stakeholders (government and private).
- Other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of 5 years' related experience and a Degree in Engineering, Planning or Business Administration. Registration as a professional engineer or planner preferred, and credentials in Sustainable Energy Management are an asset (CEM, LEED, Change Management and Project Management). Knowledge in energy management, program implementation, business case development and local government processes and bylaws is essential. You must have excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and gain consensus with stakeholders while building strong working relationships. Proficiency in MS Office and a valid B.C. Driver's License are required. Flexible work hours are required to meet operational requirements.
This is an exempt full time, 2-year term position with the possibility of extension up to one additional year. This position has a salary range of $90,000 - $100,000 - $110,000 and a percentage in lieu of benefits. It is the RDCO's philosophy to pay in the middle of the range for a fully qualified applicant.
