Your Opportunity
Our Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of bridge, rail, roadway, and transit projects. Our Calgary, Alberta office is currently seeking an Intermediate Roadway Engineer who will provide technical design services on a variety of projects. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can work in a team environment, is able to work independently when needed, and wants to be involved in exciting local, regional, national, and international projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform geometric design and 3D modeling on a variety of urban and rural roadway projects
- Lead the development of design plans and assist with preparation of technical specifications and quantity estimates as required
- Prepare engineering reports and technical studies
- Coordinate with other disciplines including structural, geotechnical, stormwater, streetlighting, landscaping and other specialty areas to ensure interdisciplinary design integration
- Provide input and guidance to designers and project CAD leads
- Ensure applicable standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during the design process
- Work to meet project timelines and budgets
- Additional duties may include assisting the Leadership team with project pursuits and proposal preparation
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment and independently when required
- Understanding and awareness of design standards including City of Calgary, City of Edmonton, TAC, Alberta Transportation, AASHTO, etc.
- Strong background in civil engineering design software (Autodesk with Bentley an asset)
- Knowledge and working experience with Civil3D modeling is a requirement; additional experience with Infraworks, and OpenRoads is considered an asset
- Knowledge of traffic modeling software such as Synchro or VISSIM considered an asset
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
- Team player with a positive attitude
Education and Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta or ability to obtain within the next 6 months
