Forestry Superintendent - Operational Planning Slave Lake, Alberta

We’re looking for a Forestry Superintendent to join our Woodlands Division with offices in Slave Lake, High Prairie and High Level , Alberta. Combined we are responsible for managing approximately 3,200,000 m3, delivered to our mills in Slave Lake, High Prairie and High Level annually. We are dedicated to sustaining these areas to the benefit of all who live and work there.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of related industry experience.
- C urrently registered or eligible as a Forestry Professional in Alberta.
- Experience in managing large scale projects and coordinating staff to innovate and deliver organizational results.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of related AB Forest legislation and implementation .
- Possess a well-developed understanding of, timber harvesting, silviculture systems and forest stewardship planning, and timber development .
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, government, public and internal and external stakeholders .
- Unwavering commitment to safety and the ability to demonstrate safe behaviors.

In this role you will:
- Oversee a team of forest professionals who are responsible for implementing landscape level plans to facilitate forest development and subsequent harvesting and stewardship programs for approximately 3,200,000 m3 annually.
- Lead and manage operational relationships with Indigenous, stakeholders and the public as required to secure fibre for Tolko’s manufacturing facilities.
- Lead landscape level planning initiatives and strategic coordination to support operational timber development.
- The Forestry Superintendent is responsible for the coordination of the Operational Planning for all of the Alberta operations.
- Standardization of best practices related to Planning and Operational Excellence.
- Ensuring that Annual Operating Plans and General Development Plans are “operationally” sound and mitigate environmental, flora, watershed, wildlife and soil concerns.
- Foster strategic partnerships with our contractors and manage the contracts in a way that will create efficiencies and give us the competitive advantage at securing fibre.
- Have the benefit of a flexible schedule working between office and field work. You are empowered to manage priority initiatives and schedule your time accordingly.
