We are seeking a passionate and talented Art Teacher to join our school. The teaching schedule for this position will vary throughout the semester, with different class times each day. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as specific teaching hours will be assigned according to a semester timetable, which means the teacher must be on campus Monday to Friday for part of the day.
As an integral part of our academic team, the Art Teacher will be part of a supportive team that greatly cares about creating an engaging and supportive school environment that actively seeks to develop our students' learning and growth by integrating Christian perspectives into all aspects of teaching the BC curriculum.
As a teacher in our high school division, your key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement an engaging and innovative art curriculum aligned with Christian values and principles.
- Teach various art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and digital media.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves creatively.
- Incorporate biblical teachings and Christian worldview into art lessons and discussions.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them develop their artistic skills and techniques.
- Organize and supervise art-related extracurricular activities, such as art clubs or exhibitions.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and activities.
- Stay updated on current trends and developments in art education and incorporate them into teaching practices.
Salary range
$56,016 - $100,902
(Dependent on education, qualifications, and experience; pro-rated for part-time teachers)
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you:
- Will have completed a Bachelor of Education degree and possess a teaching certificate issued by the Teacher Regulation Branch of the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care
- Are a professing Christian who is a member of a Christian church community willing to commit to VCS's mission, vision and community standards.
- Will have familiarity with the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care curriculum
In addition to the above requirements, the following knowledge and experience would be definite assets:
- Experience teaching senior level art courses
- Have a strong working understanding of differentiated instruction as it applies to teaching
- Have a strong working knowledge of current pedagogy, sound assessment practices and learning empowered by technology
