This is for 1- Permanent Part-time position- School Administrative Assistant

GHÙCH TLÂ COMMUNITY SCHOOL (GTC) – CARCROSS

Home to the Carcross/Tagish First Nation people, Ghùch Tlâ Community school is one of 11 Yukon schools that have joined the newly established First Nation School Board (FNSB) in the Yukon. Tagish and Tlingit are the traditional language of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Southern Lakes people.

Ghùch Tlâ Community School is a K-12 school with approximately 60 students. We are actively seeking a School Administrative Assistant who are dedicated to living in and being an active member of the community and who can adapt well to a remote lifestyle. Our school professionals value authentic relationships and are committed to working with students, community, administration and the FNSB to make positive, progressive changes to education outcomes for learners of Ghùch Tlâ Community.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience in greeting and assisting clients and visitors with a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Considerable experience with administrative tasks such as, tracking and data entry, answering phones, photocopying, scanning and faxing, filing/records management, processing mail (including e-mail and sensitive mail),
  • Experience with finance including petty cash, trust accounts visa reconciliation, including tracking of financial spending strong skills set with financial management.
  • Experience working in a school setting would be an asset
  • Experience working with ASPEN, Archibus, PeopleSoft and Apply to Education will be considered an asset

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

  • Experience in engaging and connecting with parents.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Additional information

Conditions of Employment:

  • RCMP Security Clearance, Vulnerable Sector;

  • Standard First Aid (willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire)

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
