Schedule: ~3 days/week (flexible scheduling)
Pay Rate: Starting at $16/hour
Company Description
The REC Market is one of Toronto's fastest growing pop-up vendor market that brings together local entrepreneurs, artists, and small businesses to create vibrant, community-driven shopping experiences since 2021. We host curated markets across the city, providing a platform for diverse vendors to showcase their products—from vintage fashion and handmade goods to food, art, and wellness items. Our mission is to support small business growth while building inclusive, engaging spaces where creativity and connection thrive. Whether it’s your first market or your fiftieth, The REC Market is all about real people, real hustle, and real community.
Role Description
We’re looking for a reliable and outgoing Events Supervisor to be the on-site lead at our daily markets throughout the summer. You'll be the face of The REC Market at events — responsible for setup, vendor coordination, and keeping everything running smoothly. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with people, thrives in dynamic environments, and enjoys supporting small businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrive early to wheel equipment for set up and arrange market table layouts according to the event plan (be able to physically lift tables, dolly, etc)
- Greet and check in vendors as they arrive
- Direct vendors to their assigned spots and ensure proper setup
- Sell various drinks and snacks at the event
- Act as the main point of contact during the market for all vendor and operational needs
- Maintain the overall flow, appearance, and vibe of the market
- Troubleshoot any on-site issues with professionalism and ease
- Represent The REC Market’s values and mission to both vendors and the public
- Provide post-market feedback or reports as needed
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable taking initiative and leading event execution independently
- Punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Ability to lift/move tables and light equipment as needed
- Previous event, retail, or vendor market experience is an asset
- Must be available at least 3 days per week between July 7–Sept 30 (you choose your days)
Perks:
- Flexible schedule — you pick your shifts week to week
- Fun, creative environment surrounded by local makers
- Opportunity to grow with an organization that's making waves in Toronto's small biz scene
Accessibility & Inclusion:
The REC Market is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment for all. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including but not limited to Indigenous peoples, racialized individuals, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, people with disabilities, and those with diverse life experiences.
If you require accommodations at any stage of the hiring process, please let us know (support@the recmarket.com) — we’re happy to work with you to ensure your needs are met.
