Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on IT System Administrator responsible for managing the onboarding and offboarding of employees and acquired resources while ensuring system security, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role will require a proactive approach to server and endpoint maintenance, security patching, and compliance with GRC standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in IT administration, security best practices, and penetration testing of existing applications to identify vulnerabilities and improve security posture. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing our software, hardware, and networks to ensure the optimal performance, security, and stability of our IT infrastructure. You will play a key role in supporting daily operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing robust system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and software applications.
  • Manage servers, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high levels of availability and security.
  • Perform regular system and security audits, backups, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Apply patches and upgrades to ensure systems are updated and protected from vulnerabilities.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues reported by users in a timely and effective manner.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and policies.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to support new projects and optimize existing systems.
  • Enforce compliance with internal standards and external regulations (e.g., ISO, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Other responsibilities as per business requirements

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Windows Server, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL), and macOS.
  • Familiar with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of storage technologies, including SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) systems.
  • Experience managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policy objects (GPOs).
  • Exposure to IBM i (AS/400) systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security tools.
  • Scripting abilities (PowerShell, Bash, Python) are a plus.

  • Self-motivated with a focus on continuous improvement.

 

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Server+, Network+, or Security+
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
