Job Description

What is the opportunity?

We are looking for a candidate to grow our Planning team in Calgary, AB. As a Financial Analyst, Planning & Analytics, you will develop and maintain automated reporting tools, deliver forward-looking financial analysis, and support strategic decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with IT, finance, and business units to ensure data accuracy, streamline reporting processes, and enhance our analytics capabilities. This position requires strong technical skills in Power BI, SQL, and Excel, along with the ability to communicate insights effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

What will you do?

· Develop and maintain automated dashboards and internal performance reports using Power BI.

· Extract, analyze, and model data from various sources using SQL and advanced Excel tools.

· Deliver timely and accurate financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning.

· Provide ad-hoc reporting and insights to support executive decision-making.

· Identify opportunities to improve data visualization and financial visibility.

· Collaborate with IT to support monthly product and system release testing related to financial functionality.

· Participate in “go/no-go” release decisions by validating finance-related developments against business requirements.

· Ensure reporting tools and financial systems remain aligned and functionally sound post-deployment.

· Continuously assess and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.

· Monitor and troubleshoot data quality issues, working proactively to resolve inconsistencies.

· Work closely with IT, finance, and various business units to gather reporting requirements and align data strategies.

· Facilitate cross-functional coordination to streamline data flows and reporting processes.

· Communicate complex financial insights in a clear and actionable manner to non-financial stakeholders.

· Support change management and adoption of new analytics tools and reporting processes.

· Foster strong working relationships to promote a data-driven culture across departments.

What do you need to succeed?

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

· CPA designation is preferred.

· 3-5 years of accounting/finance experience.

· Strong skills in financial analysis, planning, and business intelligence.

· Proficient in Power BI and SQL for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.

· Advanced Excel capabilities, including Power Query, complex formulas, and pivot tables.

· Experience working within the insurance sector or familiarity with insurance products and financial processes preferred.

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively present insights across teams.

· Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.

· Proactive and curious mindset with adaptability to new business systems and tools.

· Strong attention to detail with a focus on continuous process and reporting improvements.
