Your Opportunity:
The Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient Geriatrics unit collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide care to acutely ill patients. At the University of Alberta Hospital, the nurse practitioner cares for a variety of geriatric medicine patients, including patients with complex care planning needs. Supported by the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, the nurse practitioner has the opportunity to provide a holistic care approach to the patients on the unit in an exciting and fast paced setting.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.

Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree.
Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
As Required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Computer literacy. Effective demonstrated communication ability (both written and verbal). Demonstrated teamwork ability. Flexibility and adaptability.
