Position Summary:

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor the Senior Varsity Broadcaster will be responsible for the call of a wide variety of McGill varsity sports, either play-by-play or colour, on games streamed on the McGill Sports Network.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with coaches throughout the season regarding their teams
  • Research and prepare scripts for commentary during games
  • Ability to interview student-athletes post-game (same for coaches)
  • Ability to troubleshoot light technical issues during games
  • Mentor new team members, and broadcasters who do not have much experience

Please note that standard hours are generally from 5:30 - 11:00 p.m. and that the vast majority of varsity games occur between Thursday and Sunday.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Minimum two years experience in the broadcasting field
  • Keen interest in multiple sports is an asset
  • Availability to work a varied schedule, including weekends
  • Ability to establish priorities and multi-task
  • Strong understanding of MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
