Role Overview
As a Senior Engineering Analyst – Information Systems, you will act as a technical lead
overseeing the architecture, code quality, and design integrity of several custom-built
Toyota applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both traditional
3-tier web applications and modern containerized microservices. While this is not a
hands-on development role, the technical acumen to guide developers, conduct design
reviews, and resolve complex issues is critical.
This role is central to driving application modernization and ensuring successful delivery
of reliable, scalable software solutions across a broad tech stack.
What you'll be doing
- Own the technical design, architecture reviews, and code quality oversight for mission-critical internal applications
- Guide and mentor a team of developers across Angular (NgPrime) and Java (Spring) technologies
- Support our transition from traditional 3-tier architecture (UI > Service > DB) to containerized microservices with asynchronous communication
- Provide technical direction on projects involving Kafka, Redis, Docker, Oracle, and Postgres
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of software solutions with business goals
- Conduct code reviews, design validation, and technical planning for new features an system upgrades
- Act as a technical point of escalation, occasionally stepping in hands-on to support urgent production issues or unblock development efforts
- Promote engineering best practices, secure coding standards, and maintain high levels of documentation
- Lead root cause analysis and post-mortems for critical application incidents
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with deep knowledge of both monolithic and microservice architectures
- Strong hands-on background with Angular (NgPrime) and Java (Spring), as well as database technologies including Oracle and Postgres
- Experience working with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker
- Familiarity with event streaming and messaging technologies (Kafka, Redis)
- Proven ability to lead design reviews, mentor developers, and maintain engineering excellence across codebases
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Previous experience in a technical leadership or architecture-focused role (without daily development responsibilities)
- Flexible to work in either Cambridge or Woodstock locations
