As we expand, we’re seeking a Mechanical Designer or Engineer, to help us innovate and optimize product designs for both custom projects and scalable manufacturing.
Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Designer or Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and detailing the mechanical aspects of electrical equipment and components. You'll work closely with engineers, project managers, production teams, and customers to ensure every project is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and prepare drawings for custom and standard electrical distribution equipment.
- Develop detailed general arrangement and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Generate bills of materials, traveler packages, and shop documentation.
- Create programs for production machinery and assembly drawings for switchgear and control panels.
- Estimate materials and complete charge sheets.
- Provide shop floor guidance to support successful assembly.
- Ensure compliance with CSA C22.2-31, bracing, and conductor sizing requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with utilities and regulatory bodies.
- Organize and manage project files and documents in accordance with internal systems.
- Conduct site visits as required for design validation and installation planning.
- Maintain a strong commitment to REV’s safety, quality, and performance standards.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent from a Canadian recognized institution).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficient in SolidWorks and familiarity with AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards: CSA, IEEE, Canadian Electrical Code (C22.1).
- Experience with industrial control panels (CSA C22.2 No.14) and LV/MV switchgear is a strong asset.
- Strong background in sheet metal fabrication, including forming, welding, and assembly.
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to perform occasional site visits.
Beneficial Skills:
- EIT or P.Eng.
- SolidWorks PDM & Feature Manager – Experience managing design files, version control, and organizing features efficiently.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) – Understanding of best practices for optimizing sheet metal enclosures for fabrication, assembly, and cost efficiency.
- Industry Standards – Familiarity with CSA 22.2-31, NEMA, and IEEE C37.20.1/2/3 for compliance in electrical enclosure design.
