About the role
Parallax is seeking a Completions Engineer who will be responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing completions operations across current and future plays. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective completions, with a focus on technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key technical advisor to management on all completion engineering matters.
- Develop completion designs, perform day-to-day completions operations surveillance, and evaluate completions program effectiveness.
- Ensure safe, effective, and cost-conscious operations while promoting a culture of high performance.
- Collaborate with drilling and production teams to efficiently design and execute Duvernay operations.
- Apply innovative and practical completion solutions to maximize productivity and value.
- Prepare completion procedures for multistage horizontal wells.
- Identify and procure appropriate completion/stimulation equipment; participate in vendor selection and performance monitoring.
- Provide completions specifications and designs to optimize asset development plans.
- Plan lease layouts in coordination with land, drilling, production, facilities, and construction teams.
- Work with water infrastructure and conveyance teams to design water routing strategies.
- Support fracture planning zone guidance for AER Directive 83.
- Ensure compliance with AER regulatory requirements and address related issues.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure project proposals, reviews, and recommendations yield maximum value.
- Coordinate and participate in regular field, pad, and well reviews.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; registered P. Eng with APEGA.
- 10+ years of completions engineering experience, preferably with both intermediate and junior operators.
- Strong familiarity with Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) directives and regulations.
- Practical knowledge in hydraulic fracturing, water logistics, and production operations.
- Proficiency with industry tools such as Petrosight and Geoscout.
- Experience working in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, with a focus on light oil development.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Collaborative, self-motivated, and results-driven with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
