Local Department Head - Geriatric Medicine
About the role
Job Summary
We are seeking a Local Department Head (LDH) – Geriatric Medicine, at Royal Columbian Hospital.
The LDH will:
- Participate in the Site Operations Committee or equivalent for the Facility
- Function as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Department to keep Members practicing within the Facility informed regarding Fraser Health, HAMAC and Departmental objectives, policies and general activities and to ensure Regional Departments are aware of issues specific to the Facility
- In collaboration with the Regional Department Head, recommend appointment of practitioners, renewal of Medical Staff membership and privileges
- Ensure the requirements of programs operating within the Facility are co-ordinated
- Promote health and wellness amongst Members
- Investigate and document complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Department at the Facility under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head and/or Site Medical Director where appropriate
- Encourage a healthy, respectful workplace
- With the Regional Department Head, review the human resource requirements of the Regional Department practicing within the Facility
- Contribute to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies in the Regional Department
- Conduct morbidity and mortality reviews.
Term of Appointment
- Three years

- A member of the Active Staff
- Member of the Department of Geriatric Medicine
- Actively practicing in Geriatric Medicine
- RCH as your primary site
Estimated FTE and Remuneration
- This is an estimated 0.10 FTE position
- Remuneration is based on the Health Employers Association of British Columbia Medical Leadership – Profiles & Compensation for Physicians
