About the role
We are currently seeking a Commercial Advisor to join our team.
The Commercial Advisor builds strong relationships with business members, proactively maintaining relationships and engaging in business development, while also supporting the Commercial Banking, Business Banking, and Cash Management Advisors. The Commercial Advisor acts as the primary point of contact for business members with their day to day banking needs, proactively focusing on membership retention, growth and solutions to their business needs.
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day

Business Development: Working alongside Commercial Banking Advisors, assists in expanding existing relationships, and centers of influence for commercial, retail, wealth, and insurance referrals. Engages in business development activities to identify and capitalize on opportunities and pursues relationships with new commercial members by actively promoting the organization through participation in community initiatives and events.

Account Management: In support of Advisors, actively participates in maintaining relationships with members and key stakeholders by being their primary point of contact for day to day business needs. Focus on building long term relationships that ensure the continued growth and profitability of the portfolio. Enhancing member Financial Needs Served (FNS) score by regularly and proactively engaging with business members.

Sales and Service: Provides ongoing advisory services to commercial banking members by providing financial advice and initiating referrals to product specialist as required; completes and/or assists member to complete credit/debit card applications or other paperwork, as required; sets up and updates customer automated funds transfer (CAFT) users, maintains BOB for users, administers strata and municipal accounts and completes wire transactions; accepts referrals and completes necessary applications or documentation, including members signature, if required; and participates in the onboarding process of new members.

Lending and Deposit Transactions: Assists in the preparation, sourcing, reporting and inputting of information necessary to complete loan and deposit transactions. Activities include the completion of credit investigations, searches, preparing applications and related documentation; assists members in obtaining applicable documentation required to complete loan; and assists with profitability analysis, as required.

Reporting, Audit, Analysis, and Collections: Prepares and actions appropriate reports, including follow up with member, branch, or stakeholders. Reviews and advises on potential NSF and delinquency, assisting as necessary in the initiation and processing of collection activities. Assists in completion of annual reviews by following up with members to obtain financial statements and other related documents; and assists with financial statement breakdown, as required.

General Administration: Provides other general administrative support as required.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Certificate (1 year or less) required

Bachelor’s Degree or College, Trade or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in related discipline preferred

2 years experience in a business banking role, or equivalent required

Proven skills in business development, sales, and relationship building; recognized as a top performer in field

Ability to quickly establish and sustain credibility with business owners and managers as an Advisor
-
Demonstrated effective speaking /listening and written communication skills, as well as effective presentation skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically MS Excel and Word
-
Skills and experience in investment and lending products and services
-
Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
