The Opportunity
Columbia College is looking for an English Teacher to teach the following course on campus, for our High School Division.
- LTST, Literary Studies 11, section (10) – Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 11:40 am.
This part-time sessional position will commence in September 2025 and end in December 2025.
Key Responsibilities
Instructors' primary responsibilities include planning, teaching, marking, and grading the appointed course/s.
The instructor is also responsible for:

Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum.

Applying a variety of teaching methods to ensure understanding of the material.

Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Assessing student progress and providing feedback.
-
Collaborating with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience.
Ideal Candidate
-
A Bachelor’s degree in English is required. A master’s degree is considered an asset.
-
A BC Public or Independent School Teaching Certificate.
-
A minimum of two years of experience teaching high school English courses.
-
Experience teaching international students.
-
Excellent expertise with Learning Management Systems (Knowledge and experience with Moodle is an asset).
-
Demonstrated success in innovative or student-centered teaching techniques.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills.
-
Experience in teaching a diverse student body.
Compensation
We offer competitive compensation. The gross salary paid for a high school course semester is $10,953.37 for a BA holder. When the instructor holds a Bachelor’s degree in the subject matter and has completed the PDP, the gross salary paid for a full course is $11,373.65. The gross remuneration for an entire course is $12,075.36 for a Master’s degree holder.
