The Role

The Global Analytics Engineering team at Scotiabank is focused on building, organizing and structuring the bank’s data on the cloud to enhance data-driven decisions across the bank. Our team consists of accomplished professionals who blend expertise in computer science, data and analytics to deliver innovative solutions that drive the business.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Work with business teams across the bank to understand their data-driven goals
  • Deliver data insights and analytics directly to management and other key front office decision-makers
  • Design and implement scalable data models and ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Develop automated testing and monitoring solutions for data quality
  • Implement data governance and security best practices
  • Document data architecture and transformation processes
  • Support data scientists and analysts with reliable data access

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have/can:

  • Bachelor or graduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field or relevant experience
  • Experience with or interest in Banking/Finance/Capital Markets is an asset
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Proficiency in Python and data processing frameworks
  • Strong experience with ETL/ELT processes and data modeling
  • Expert-level knowledge of dbt and modern data stack
  • Knowledge of data warehouse architecture and dimensional modeling
  • Proven track record of implementing data quality frameworks
  • High performance, pragmatic, detail-oriented
