The HRIS Unit Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Human Resources Information System (Peoplesoft) and manages a dual function Unit that includes Data Specialists, as well as the HRIS Workforce Planning Analyst function. The Unit plays a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to promote data integrity and delivery, as well as an enterprise systems approach to information management and technology within the Calgary Police Service (CPS). Primary duties include:

  • Oversee the implementation of HR information management and technology strategies that drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, and increased efficiency of data delivery.
  • Provide both business and technical leadership for daily HRIS operations, including data management, quality assurance, organizational structure process and issue resolution.
  • Lead the HRIS Unit, including hiring, goal setting, development, performance reviews and day-to-day supervision. Provide mentorship, guidance and quality control on deliverables.
  • Ensure the HRIS Unit effectively responds to data requests and continuously improves data integrity. Deliverables must be accurate, timely, and tailored to meet the needs of diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Oversee data security and ensure compliance with The City of Calgary and CPS information management standards and policies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with The City of Calgary and CPS IT teams to ensure integrated data structures support both current and future HR technologies.
  • Partner with HR leadership to resolve position-related issues, strategically address information management gaps, as well as support effective workforce planning and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead collaboration with internal and external partners to implement changes in Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions. Ensure effective communication and dissemination of critical position and staffing information and reports across the Service.
  • Leverage technologies to enhance operational efficiency, data accessibility, and analytical capabilities with HR data across the CPS. This includes directing the development and delivery of dashboards, KPIs, and ad hoc reports for position and people data for CPS leadership and reviewing deliverables to ensure accuracy and adherence to position management principles.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field and a minimum of 8 years of experience working with HRIS, information technology, or business analysis.
  • Experience leading teams and corporate level initiatives is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills are required, as well as experience in SQL and Power BI.
  • Success in this role requires: political acumen, coaching and performance development, project management in an IT/Information system environment, communication, managing resources, planning and prioritizing, relationship building and problem solving.

  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

compressed 4 day work schedule.
