About The Role Working under the direction of the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for the daily management of the accurate, timely and confidential preparation and distribution of the Sites’ payroll.
Responsibilities PAYROLL
- Process biweekly & semi-monthly with a high volume of multi-collective payroll using Work Force Now (WFN) for BC, QB & AB
- Verify payroll each pay period to ensure transactions have been processed accurately
- Ensure processing of appropriate deductions, remittances and reporting requirements for deductions and benefits.
- Ensuring legislation, collective agreements & company policies are met
- Respond to employee’s payroll related inquiries
- Prepare payroll reports and special manual payments
- Issue ROE’s, when required
- Review and reconcile monthly benefits
- Prepare payroll related remittances for UNION, WCB, CRA, PENSION
- Respond to enquiries as required and provide support to the sites in processing payroll
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Sound knowledge of payroll employment standards and regulations
- Proficient in payroll application ADP WFN (Work Force Now)
- Proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills
- Strong organizational, problem solving, decision making, multitasking and communication skills
- Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information
- All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
- Highly developed time management skills
- Must be a team player
- Benefits administration experience in preferred
- Payroll experience in a unionized environment is a definite asset
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with ADP WFN software with the ability to develop and generate reports, as required
- Experience in a large complex Multi-collective organization
- Responding quickly and accurately to questions raised by internal and external customers
- Timely completion of work in advance of pay dates and deadlines
