Senior Engineer - Transmission Planning
Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Edmonds A03
Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland
Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid
Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00
What you'll do
- As an experienced professional engineer, engages in the engineering of electrical utility systems and develops specialized
expertise in at least one electrical utility engineering discipline such as: system planning, operational planning, maintenance
engineering, design engineering, distribution engineering or project engineering.
- Investigates, analyzes and solves a variety of engineering problems, many of which are of a more challenging and
unusual nature.
- Develops innovative engineering techniques, devises new approaches and applies existing criteria in novel ways.
- Manages projects of some complexity including planning and managing resources and coordinating work to ensure that
commitments are met.
- Represents the engineering function in the public consultation process. May chair meetings to address engineering
problems.
- Assigns work and gives instructions, advice and technical guidance to other engineers and technical support staff.
- Reviews work of the team and of consultants and contractors to ensure accuracy, achievement of required results, and
adherence to accepted engineering practice.
- Imparts engineering knowledge and encourages the professional development of engineers.
- Develops and maintains effective professional relationships with internal and external colleagues in order to determine
relative priorities, assess the impact of work on others and resolve issues of concern.
- Works under general direction, with work assigned in terms of broadly defined objectives and budget limitations. Advice of
manager is sought in critical areas which impact the work of others. Completed work is accepted as accurate, with overall
plans and recommendations reviewed for feasibility, soundness of judgment and achievement of objectives. What you bring
- Electrical engineering degree in a relevant discipline recognized by Canadian universities. Ongoing development such as
self-study, attendance at technical and administrative courses and participation in technical and professional societies.
- Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the Province of British Columbia
with EGBC.
- Eight+ (8) years’ experience in a relevant engineering field.
- Excellent knowledge in power systems analysis, modeling techniques, and good understanding of transmission reliability
criteria in planning and operation horizons will be an asset.
- Proficiency in power system simulation software is also an asset.
