Settlement Worker

(Part**-time contract until March 31, 2026****)**

CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or immigration status.

We aresearching for a part-time Settlement Worker with fluency in English and one of the following languages: Tamil, Tigrinya, Hindi and/or Bengali. The Settlement Worker will provide settlement information and referral services to immigrants and refugees to aid in their settlement and integration into the community.

W****hat you will be doing:

  • Provide client-centered settlement counselling services, including assessment, information and orientation at CCS offices and other community partner locations.
  • Use initial assessment of newcomers to develop personalized settlement plans.
  • Provide case management and supportive follow-up.
  • Facilitate appropriate internal/external referrals to services required by clients that are not been provided by the program.
  • Organize, plan, facilitate group sessions as required by contract, and are in line by client needs.
  • Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote CCS programs and services.
  • Provide online assessment, information and orientation
  • Actively participate in regular team and regional meetings.
  • Maintain and update all client information in the OCMS database.
  • Prepare and submit timely statistical and progress reports as required.
  • Collaborate with the manager to develop and implement initiatives and/or focus activities to address newcomer needs. (e.g., financial literacy, youth, women)
  • Meet all program goals as assigned

What are we looking for?

  • Social Service Work diploma or Social Work degree from recognized institution or equivalent training in community work sectors
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors.
  • Ability to engage clients via online communication tools such as Zoom, Teams, and Google classroom, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram etc.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English required; written and verbal fluency in one of the following languages is also required: Tamil, Tigrinya, Hindi and/or Bengali.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, ongoing partnerships community agencies
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills with participants, other agencies and the public.
  • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.

Location: Scarborough, ON

*Compensation:**$*29.67 to $33.02 based on experience

Hours of work: 21 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and occasional overtime as required

Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a GTA-based, national non-profit organization, providing programs and services to empower newcomers, immigrants and refugees to settle, integrate and prosper in Canada.

From its humble beginnings in a downtown Toronto church in 1954, CCS has grown into one of the largest settlement organizations in Canada. More than 200 employees and 100's of volunteers deliver culturally-sensitive and linguistically appropriate programs and services in more than thirty languages.
