Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities. The division is unique in that it is surrounded by a multitude of lakes, golf courses and trails that appeal to an active, outdoor lifestyle while still being in close proximity to larger urban centers.
Many schools within Aspen View are geographically located to allow beginning teachers to meet the requirements of the Northern Student Teacher Bursary and/or Northern Alberta Development Council bursaries
Thorhild Central School, located in the Hamlet of Thorhild, provides educational services to approximately 300 students in Grades K-12.
Are you an enthusiastic and committed educator with a passion for leadership and mathematics? We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our vibrant, fast-paced K–12 school as a temporary 1.0 FTE staff member, split between two key roles: 0.5 FTE Assistant Principal and 0.5 FTE Math Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to play a dual role in supporting academic excellence and fostering a positive school culture.
This position will commence on August 25, 2025 and expire on June 26, 2026.
Applications may be by July 2, 2025. Interviews will occur on July 3rd and 4th, 2025. Please include an updated resume, two professional references and a copy of Alberta Teacher Certification. A current criminal record check including vulnerable sector check and child intervention check, dated within the past six (6) months, must be provided prior to an employment contract being issued.

In September 2021, there were 2,511 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students registered to attend one of AVPS’s 10 schools, four Hutterite Brethren schools, two Outreach/Off-Campus/Virtual schools and two Institutional Schools. Our division employs 364 staff; with 176.64 Full Time Equivalences (FTEs) being teachers or administrators.
