SUMMARY:
Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of First or Second Class Power Engineer, located at its Taber Processing Plant. The position reports to the Reliability Manager. At our Taber facility we operate three (3) Power Boilers as well as two (2) Backpressure Turbines that are used to generate on-site power. The position is unionized.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL:
- Monitor all processes and equipment
- Respond to emergencies and upset conditions ensuring that established procedures are followed
- Perform routine operating tasks (i.e. monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, etc.)
- Monitor operating area for abnormal conditions
- Perform basic troubleshooting
- Perform proper sampling as required
- Assist in preparation of equipment for maintenance
- Create notifications to initiate equipment/unit repairs
- Perform housekeeping duties and operational maintenance as assigned
- Be willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule consisting of day, night, and weekend shifts. Main shift will consist of days, Monday to Friday.
- Cover for the Chief Power Engineer when required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN THE TEAM:
- The successful candidate must have a valid First or Second Class Steam Ticket in the province of Alberta.
- Commitment to work in a safe and efficient manner (adherence to Lock Out-Tag Out, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Hot Work and other applicable regulations and practices).
- High level of technical experience related to the operation of steal plants and water treatment equipment
- Food industry experience is considered an asset
- Possess the mechanical aptitude/skills to allow hands-on operation of plant equipment (i.e. DCS control systems, turbo generators, pumps, compressors, heaters, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Troubleshooting/analytical/decision making skills
- Knowledge of WHMIS, TDG, and OH&S regulations
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with others to perform all aspects of maintenance activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
