As our operations expand, we’re seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to drive innovation, enhance systems, and integrate cutting-edge technologies to support our growth.
The CMM Programmer will develop, validate, document, and distribute Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs. This includes standardizing and optimizing programs, creating documentation like setup instructions, training inspection operators, and implementing best practices for programming and inspection techniques.
The role involves operating CMM equipment and performing advanced manual inspections using various tools and gauges (e.g., micrometers, calipers, shadow graphs, mold impressions, digital height gauges). The position requires conducting CMM and manual inspections of complex machined components for the aerospace and nuclear industries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate standardized, efficient inspection programs for NWI CMM’s and all programmable inspection equipment.
- Maintain the NWI CMM Program Procedure activities such as revision control of programs, verification of CMM program outputs, approving and issuing programs to production.
- Programs will be created for both in-process and final inspection requirements, and at times where further programming is required.
- Participate with engineering in the inspection control planning for parts, including recommending manual and non-CMM inspection.
- Lead First Article Inspection processes, data collection and archiving of data
- Participate in researching evolving inspection technologies to upgrade or compliment CMM Inspection
- Participate in data collection, both CMM generated and from other inspection devices.
- Review blueprints and specifications to establish inspection criteria that adheres to the Quality Assurance Manual.
- Establish best practices while meeting customer specific requirements.
- Create programs offline from part models.
- Be the subject matter expert on First Article Inspection activities
- Liaise with maintenance and vendor partners in ensuring CMM inspection equipment and accessories are calibrated and maintained.
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
- Must have 5+ years direct experience inspecting machined parts with tight tolerances
- Must have 5+ years experience in CMM Programming and familiarity in gear and spline programming
- Familiarity with PC DMIS and Calypso CMM Software
- Strong knowledge of close tolerance machining processes
- Strong skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Statistics and Data Analysis
- Capability in working with manual inspection tools
- Experience required in configuration control, MS Office Excel, and set-up documentation
- Experience in performing Measurement System Analysis and Statistical Process Control an asset
- Must be able to work in Canada and a current resident of Canada
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to work under pressure
- Ability to select tools, read blueprints, specifications, manuals and work procedures
- Willingness to work overtime hours when required including weekends
