Are you passionate about safeguarding digital landscapes? Do you want to play a pivotal role in fortifying the technological backbone of the University of Regina? We’re searching for a new Information Security Analyst to join our Information Services team!
As an integral part of the University of Regina, Information Services provides the technological infrastructure to support the work of students, faculty, and staff. Information Services facilitates learning, teaching, research and effective University administration through knowledgeable staff who deliver service and technology on an on-going basis throughout the University community.
Reporting directly to the Manager of Information Security, you will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing our information security framework. Your mission? Safeguarding our systems, networks, and data from evolving cyber threats.
What You’ll Do:
- Active Monitoring: Proactively identify and respond to security alerts and incidents, ensuring swift and effective countermeasures.
- Assessment and Auditing: Conduct thorough vulnerability assessments, security audits, and compliance initiatives across our diverse computing environment.
- Implementation Champion: Collaborate on the implementation and testing of robust security processes and controls, guiding projects and stakeholders towards secure practices.
- Educational Advocacy: Play a vital role in our information security awareness program, empowering our community with knowledge and best practices.
- Documentation and Innovation: Develop and document cutting-edge security administration practices, contributing to a continuously evolving secure ecosystem.

Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to the Position:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Five years of related IT experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; and
- Information security certifications such as Cisco CCNA Cyber Ops, ISC2 SSCP, GIAC GSEC, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent are preferred. Ability and willingness to obtain certifications within the first year may also be accepted.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role:
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT, industry security standards and best practices, legal and regulatory requirements as it pertains to information security, risk management, and common security controls;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member in a collaborative team environment;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail;
- Previous experience with SIEM tools, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, monitoring tools, antivirus and identity and access management;
- Experience participating in IT projects, preferably in a University environment; and,
- The ability to work occasional flex time to perform incident responses outside of normal business hours.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 6 Salary Range $77,127 - $104,063 Annually Status Permanent Work Hours
As outlined in the APT collective agreement
