Water Wastewater Facilities & Distribution/Collection Operator Job Posting ID 25E-46 North Bay is a diverse community that offers a perfect blend of opportunity and easy living. Applications are invited for a Water Wastewater Facilities & Distribution/Collection Operator in the Water, Wastewater and Environmental Services Department. Under the direction of the Sewer & Water Supervisor, the operator performs routine repairs, maintenance and installations to municipal water distribution, wastewater collection and storm sewer systems. Under the direction of the Water and Wastewater Facilities Supervisor, the operator is responsible (under the supervision of the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO)) for the operation of the Water and Wastewater Facilities, as the case may be, in order to ensure that residents have safe and clean water (or properly treated wastewater) in accordance with federal, provincial and municipal legislation, policies and standards.

The position will rotate between the water and sewer department and water and wastewater facilities department as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum post-secondary diploma in relevant field (ex: Environmental/Mechanical Technician)
  • Must possess and post a minimum:

Class I Water Treatment Certificate,

Class I Water Distribution Certificate,

Class I Wastewater Treatment Certificate.

Class I Wastewater Collection Certificate

  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership.
  • Must have worked a minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Water or Wastewater Treatment Operator.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Must have sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports.
  • Have good working knowledge of Safety Regulations and Procedures.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Scada System Software and Computerized Maintenance system.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement.
  • Must be available for on-call rotation and emergency work and participate in the duty system.
  • Operators-in-Training (OIT) may be considered for this position at the OIT rate of pay.
