Recreation Therapy Associate - Mobility Team - Provincial Mobilization

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, and under the supervision of the WZ Frailty Coordinator, the Recreation Therapy Associate is a member of the health care team, providing support to clients and families through the Provincial Frailty and Mobilization program to support early mobilization of clients. Recreation Therapy Associates within the mobility teams will provide early mobilization interventions to individuals in hospital care setting, related to the client’s needs and overall plan of care. Recreation therapy associates practice in adherence to practice standards and scope of employment.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Post-secondary diploma with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited educational institution
- BLS - C
- Experience working with individuals with physical/cognitive disabilities
- Ability to work effectively within a team or other healthcare professionals
- Ability to assist in the plan, develop, implement and evaluation of Recreation programs
- Effective listening and communication skills; ability to motivate patients/veterans
- Adaptability/Flexibility: changing and adapting skills to changing patient populations and/or worksites
- Ability to work independently, without direct supervision
- Ability to understand medical terminology used in a clinical area, and use within the documentation.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Full-Time Short Assignment / 75 hours bi-weekly
- Approximately a 4-month assignment
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, holidays
Compensation and Benefits
$25.83 - $30.09 Hourly
