Salary: $22.802, $23.486, $24.190, $24.917, $25.664, $26.432

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Physician Services Manager, the incumbent is responsible for secretarial support for the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology. Responsibilities include scheduling and organizing meetings, coordination of rounds, taking minutes, maintaining schedule of physicians, preparing correspondence such as agendas and memos, data entry and other general office duties. The incumbent assists with special projects, assists in research grant proposals and other related duties as required. The incumbent serves as a back-up to complete timekeeping for the department.

The incumbent has the ability to coordinate workflow and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions, exercises sound judgment, maintains confidentiality, and is willing to assume a variety of assignments as required. The candidate must be a self-starter, have the ability to work independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision and be capable of carrying out the duties of this position with diplomacy, tact, and professionalism.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Successful completion of a recognized administrative or secretarial training program from an accredited educational institution or a combination of education and experience can be considered as determined by CancerCare Manitoba

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a senior secretarial position

  • Medical terminology, transcription and minute taking skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

  • Satisfactory employment record

  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Will be assessed during the interview process:

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, customer service and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to adapt to stressful situations

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Preferred:

  • Previous experience within a health care setting

  • Previous experience within a unionized setting

Asset:

  • Bilingual (English/French)
