About the role
Job Description Reporting to the Director, Community & Economic Innovation, the Innovation Strategist is responsible for the management and coordination of corporate and departmental projects that have a cross-departmental/corporate scope including working collaboratively with business units across the organization to develop business plans and strategy. This position researches, develops, and where appropriate, implements new corporate initiatives; provides process and business planning, change management and resource assistance to project teams or business units with a lens towards excellence, innovation and efficiency. In collaboration with the Director, Community & Economic Innovation, drives innovation in the organization by identifying and implementing solutions to improve services, processes and efficiencies.
Job Requirements

Post-secondary degree in a multi-disciplinary field relevant to municipal government activities, project management, innovation and/or business planning or equivalent work experience that demonstrates an understanding and subject matter expertise of the same, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Well developed knowledge of the municipal environment, and services as well as demonstrated experience working with or in municipal government in a cross-corporate capacity.

Strong knowledge of business processes and business case building.

Strong ability to achieve successful outcomes using influence and consensus building in a complex setting with diverse interested parties.

Highly developed ability to work on multiple project initiatives with various business units with competing due dates and varying complexity.

Proven ability in project management, creative problem solving, team coordination, change management and consensus building.

Strong analytical, presentation, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills with an ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.

Highly developed research, conceptual and analytical skills demonstrated by the resolution of complex issues including the ability to identify and analyze emerging issues and trends.

Strong oral and written communication skills, report writing, executive summaries, and policy development. Ability to clearly communicate results and complicated information in a way that can be understand by a diverse audience.

Strong computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office desktop applications and software, including the full Microsoft suite and CRMs.

Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and government, elected officials, consultants, various professionals and the public.

Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.

Available to work scheduled overtime and attend meetings or events scheduled beyond regular work hours as required.

Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
