Employment Status Part Time Employment Type Regular Job Summary
The Bookstore Clerk is responsible for providing services to all customers of the College of New Caledonia Bookstore by providing excellent customer service, processing payments through the Point-of-Sale system, and responding to customer queries. This role is also responsible for maintaining stock replenishment within the bookstore while also ensuring a safe environment for customers.
Specific Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service to the customers by processing purchases in a friendly, effective and efficient manner.
- Performs cashier duties by receiving various payment methods (cash transactions, credit/debit, gift cards) from customers.
- Completes opening and/or closing responsibilities of the bookstore, including but not limited to counting till floats and completing daily cash/debit reports to ensure accuracy.
- Maintains in-store presentation standards: product presentation, signage and promotions as requested by the College Store Supervisor.
- Restocks all items in the bookstore, including but not limited to textbooks, giftware, and confectionary items
- Complete online order fulfilment, including picking and packaging of orders
- Maintains the bookstore in a safe and organized manner. This includes cleaning and sanitizing furniture, various surfaces, and equipment.
- Reports any required maintenance needs, faulty equipment, and broken/damaged items to the College Store Supervisor.
- You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities
- You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues
- Other duties as assigned by the College Store Supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications

High School completion or equivalent

6 months or more In a customer service-related role, preferably in a retail setting.

Ability to handle variety of payment methods, including using Point-of-Sale Systems.

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff, faculty, and other visitors.

Ability to multi-task by performing various tasks throughout the day.

Physical ability to complete the demands of the position.
