Position Overview

Butterfield & Robinson’s continued success as a world-class travel company depends on engaging the most talented team of trip-planning experts to conceive and plan a portfolio of world-class trip itineraries. The Region Director (RD), also knowns as Experience Designer, collaborates with Butterfield & Robinson in planning the portfolio and acts as the sales and planning expert for assigned region(s). This is an independent contractor position.

As an expert for our trips in Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, Turkiye, Slovenia, and Georgia, you possess an acute appreciation for the rich culture, diverse landscapes and undeniable charisma of this part of the world, and this passion permeates every aspect of your work. You will seamlessly blend your knowledge of trip design, sales, and operations with unbridled enthusiasm for immersing travelers in the heart of the region.

With finesse and flair, you meld your insider knowledge, and an impressive network of local contacts, adding a generous sprinkle of magic to curate travel experiences that are tailor-made for every adventure. Your dedication to these unforgettable journeys is nothing short of inspiring.

This role is for a Region Director partner , joining a Region Director who is well established in the region. Together, you will collaborate to evaluate the region’s potential and, supported by the Director, Sales & Trip Design, will define a roadmap for growth and development for the countries within this portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize revenue potential in the assigned region(s) through the design and sales of unique trips that consistently meet B&R’s standards of excellence;
  • Respond to traveller inquiries in a timely manner and provide the highest levels of customer experience throughout all traveller interactions;
  • Support B&R’s Marketing and Sales teams in promoting the growth of the assigned region(s);
  • Plan all logistics related to the trips, creating and ensuring the accuracy of relevant traveller-oriented written materials; provide your expertise, judgment, and advice to make any trip-related operational decisions;
  • Uphold trip planning and operational standards to the highest level, responding proactively to trip performance issues;
  • Assess and report on risks and the quality of all activities, events and related vendors;
  • Manage relevant written materials and operational documents that are required to support your colleagues throughout the season;
  • Collaborate with B&R team of experts in all departments as required, and act as point of contact to provide information regarding your region to all B&R team members;
  • Engage with B&R’s administrative practices; and
  • Deliver ad hoc trip planning, marketing, and sales services as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience in the luxury travel industry, specifically sales, trip planning, and the execution of unique travel experiences;
  • Deep knowledge of the assigned regions;
  • Experience collaborating and negotiating with local suppliers and partners; and
  • Experience as a B&R guide and route worker is an asset.
