Description

Reporting to the Senior Sustainability Manager, the Senior Sustainability Consultant will support and/or lead initiatives that feed into Purolator’s sustainability strategy and help meet its targets. This role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multidisciplinary areas to deliver these projects.

Responsibilities

Projects would be assigned based on the sustainability strategy & priorities for the current year. Key projects may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Leading and supporting initiatives for the reduction of Scope 3 emissions across Purolator’s operations, including working with Procurement and our service partners to lower GHG emissions, focusing initially on high-opportunity supplier groups.
  • Engaging with teams to ensure that environmental performance standards are incorporated in our purchasing requirements, and that product takeback or recycling programs are in place as needed.
  • Implementing GHG emissions and/or waste reduction programs at Purolator’s facilities.
  • Identifying, testing and implementing new sustainable products and/ or services.
  • Working with Operations and our customers to implement sustainable shipping solutions.
  • Completing RFP and RFI requests for current and prospective customers.
  • Supporting customer information requests and surveys.
  • Providing input into the Eco Vadis and CDP questionnaire components.
  • Developing content for Corporate Communications and Purolator’s Sustainability reporting.
  • Supporting the collection of data and calculation of GHG Inventory for Purolator and its customers.
  • Conducting research on Sustainability trends, best practices and regulatory impacts related to focus projects.
  • Collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to support execution of programs.
  • Representing Purolator on industry committees and working groups related to focus projects.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree-3-4 years.
  • University Degree preferably at a Masters Level – Sustainability Management, Environmental Engineering/Science, Environment & Business, Circular Economy.

Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in delivering Sustainability solutions and programs, like those listed in the Responsibilities section above.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve complex problems.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated success in creating and executing national programs.
  • Confidence to work independently and autonomously, self-driven.
  • Collaborative.
  • Builds trusting relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and maximize their capabilities.
  • Influencer with strong analytical skills, detail oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities.
