About the role
Dawson Civil is looking for Labourers who can work independently, ensuring groundwork for construction projects is completed efficiently through preparation, excavation, and concrete mixing while adhering to safety rules and regulations.
In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Civil, working in a temporary, full-time position of a Labourer, reporting to the Foreman, Civil. The ideal candidate will effectively work with customers, both internal and external, to provide a valued service as an industry expert in construction services. Your base location will be Merritt, BC and will require some travel throughout our great province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Load & unload building materials and equipment as needed
- Assists with installing water, sanitary sewer and storm water collection systems and related construction duties
- Knowledge of bedding and compaction requirements and processes
- Be proficient with cutting beveling and connecting/fusing pipes
- Assemble and install shoring in excavations as required
- Attend and participate in all safety meetings and abide by safety policies
- Assist in preparing work site to eliminate potential hazards
- Provide daily labour support as directed by the Civil Division on-site team
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Experience with basic power and construction tool
WHAT YOU BRING
- Minimum three (3) years of experience and understanding of the civil construction industry
- Carpentry experience is an asset
- Knowledge of pipe types and fittings
- Have a good understanding in shoring and sloping requirements for excavations
- Ability to communicate effectively, to work well with others, to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
