The town of Peace River is nestled in the beautiful Peace River valley and is the cultural and economic hub of the Peace Region of northwestern Alberta. The town population is about 6000 with a surrounding catchment of 10,000. Peace River offers great education and the residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including golfing, hockey, camping skiing and swimming. Come join our team in a dynamic rural facility. You will be working closely with physicians and members of a multidisciplinary team to provide care for patients while following AHS values. Previous experience is preferred and you will be required to evolve into a charge nurse role. You will be responsible for caring for patients from newborn to seniors with a variety of medical, surgical and obstetrical opportunities. This acute department provides care to stroke, cardiac and trauma events within the area. Charge nurse duties will apply to this role within the department and as a support/resources to other departments. In addition to a competitive rate of pay AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3000.00. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at basic rate of pay. Temporary accommodations and relocation may be considered.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years obstetrical experience with charge roles is required. Must have excellent critical thinking and assessment skills. Education Required ACLS, NRP, Charge Training, Fetal Heart Surveillance, BORN, Connect Care. Can be obtained or recertified upon hire. Education Reimbursed - courses deemed applicable to current position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience may be preferred.
